Yesterday, we celebrated our First Anniversary of CultureThemes with a re-visit to our first tag #WhyILoveMuseums. To say it was a success would be an understatement. To say we’re proud of our first year would also be an understatement.
We started CultureThemes last year when we a group of us saw a lot of negative towards cultural venues after there was a shift (read that as cuts) in the funding. While it was mainly related to the UK, it seemed to be reflective international.
The group decided collectively that we needed to do something to shift the negative to a positive. Yes, cuts were still going to happen, but perhaps having a positive theme once a month would help shift the spotlight.
Thank you for all who have taken part in our tags. We appreciate and value everyone who have supported us. Its never been about numbers for us, its always been about ensuring culture (museums, galleries, libraries, and everything in between) is seen in a positive light regardless of what is going on with politics.
Having said all that, #WhyILoveMuseums trended in several countries.
We tried to archive all the tweets but as there were so many, I’m not sure the software was able to capture them all.
A big huge thank you to the CultureThemes team:
Here’s to many more years.
